The 2015–2020 Ford F-150 covers six model years, and there are important differences between them. The 2015 model introduced a major redesign, including the move to an aluminum body. Ford continued making changes during the following years, including updates to engines, transmissions, features, and exterior styling. That means you should not judge every Ford F-150 from this period the same way. A later truck may have updates that were not available on an earlier model, while the engine, transmission, mileage, maintenance history, and condition can also change what makes a particular truck a good buy. Use the model year as a starting point rather than the only reason to buy or avoid a truck. Before buying, check the service history, look for open recalls, take a proper test drive, and have the truck inspected. A well-maintained truck from a year that needs a closer look can still be a better purchase than a poorly maintained truck from a year with a better overall record.
